To keep track of my work and progress I have had blogger, I had to make a Gmail account to be able to use blogger from there I created pages for the different task, this makes my blog look organised and professional. Blogger can be viewed by my teacher and peers who gave me advice and improvements which I have considered in my magazine.
To design my magazine and edit photos for my magazine I used adobe Photoshop 7.0 as this is what was available to use to edit, after a walkthrough of how to use Photoshop I found it easy to do, I now have a good knowledge of Photoshop and I can edit my photos for my magazine to a good standard, for example I know to upload a photo from Photoshop to Blogger I need to change the format to a JPEG.
To take my pictures I used a digital camera provided by my teacher I managed to take some good photos which I later went on to edit in Photoshop. To make sure that my pictures weren’t blurry I used a tripod which fixes the camera in place making the images steady and of a good quality.
I have used Flickr to annotate some of my images and images on the internet. In the research into conventions of a magazine task annotated images of double page spreads and contents pages from Kerrang magazine and NME, by using Flickr I could annotate sections of the magazine in more depth rather than using word. I also used Flickr to complete evaluation task 4 where I had to annotate my own work and say how I addressed my audience.
I used Prezi to complete task 3 in this task In this task I had to say what industry’s would sell my magazine, I have never used Prezi so I had to watch the tutorials on the Prezi website these helped me to understand how to use prezi, I then completed the task it involved comparing my magazine with other magazine such as Kerrang.
Evaluation 3
One way I could advertise my magazine is on social networking sites such as Facebook or twitter as these are 2 well known sites used by millions of people and a majority are my target audience this is direct and can be spread all over the world as these websites are global another way I could advertise is through YouTube this is already done by similar magazine such as kerrang and NME magazine which have a similar target audience YouTube is used by millions of people everyday and is very cheap to advertise on.
Another way of advertising is through I tunes and kindle these are huge websites which allow users to read and listen to magazines on an I pad/I pod or kindle this can be down by an application or a download for a fixed price. So far I have only mentioned methods via the internet this is because my target audience will mainly use the internet therefore they will see it everyday.
Some ways which don’t involve the internet are going to gigs and handing out leaflets or free copies of the magazine this builds up a fan base and is directly at my target audience as they are people who enjoy going to gigs which is what my magazine includes. A final way is through companies such as IPC publishing who work with similar magazine such as kerrang these get there magazines on the shelves in supermarkets and stores.
I used Microsoft word in my magazine, I used this to do drafts of any written work for example I wrote up my double page spread article to see if there was any mistakes, this made my blog look more professional and improved the quality of my written work.
I used all these programs on the school computers through out lessons and free's i also used these programs to complete tasks from home on my laptop i was able to use photoshop from home via the remote desktop.
